The Bank Job – CANCELLED!

Apologies to anybody who was planning on getting down to James Christie’s excellent piece of comedy theatre, The Bank Job, due to unexpected illness tomorrow’s performance has been cancelled. If you were still wanting to visit another Altogether Now event we can offer you the FREE screening of the First Page 24 hour filmmaking challenge short films at the Cramphorn OR the exclusive private view of the Heads Up exhibition in the Old Barclays bank, No 2 High Street.

The Comedy Stage is now open – ALL day EVERY day!!

As part of Altogether Now the Jolly Roger’s Comedy team are making a north face of the Eiger-like attempt at not just breaking the world record for the longest continuous comedy show (currently standing at 81 hours) but frankly smashing it to bits. Right now – and at any time of day or night from now until the afternoon of the Sunday 2oth May – you can pop in to Mustard Bistro on New London Road (opposite Just Imagine, near the Job Centre) to see high quality stand-up comedy, non-stop round the clock. Visit in your lunch break, pop in before work, head down after school, hide as a refuge against the dark inner turmoil of your mind at 4 am – we don’t mind when you go, just make sure you don’t miss out on history in the making!!!

Altogether Now up for an award!

Altogether Now is in the running for this Month’s Chelmsford Grand Awards grant, which give us a much needed £1000 towards our running costs, and you can help us to win it. If you follow the link to the Grand Awards website you can vote for Altogether Now to be awarded this month’s grant. We are up against two exceptionally worthy causes so please do stop by the website, read about them and make a considered choice and feel free to visit the Grand Awards page every month and cast your vote to help the borough council to make the best and most democratic grant awarding decisions it can.

Altogether Now is a fringe format festival, this year running from the 11th May to the 5th June, celebrating the diversity and quality of culture produced in Chelmsford – from music to visual art, from comedy to theatre, from film to food.

The format of the festival is something akin to the Edinburgh Fringe festival, with events happening in venues all over town across an extended time period. All of the events will be contained and advertised in the comprehensive Altogether Now event programme. 5000 of these will be distributed in venues, shops, bars, pubs and waiting rooms all over the borough.
