Keeping the spirit of the much-loved and much-missed elder statesman of British jazz alive The Humphrey Lyttelton Reunion Band, consisting of Adrian Macintosh, Jimmy Hastings, John Rees-Jones, Ray Wordsworth, Robert Fowler, Ted Beament and Tony Fisher, continues to work tirelessly, touring the country, presenting Humph’s music and showcasing his vast music library.
Chelmsford Jazz Club has an equally proud tradition of flying the flag for jazz in Essex, since the mid-eighties, and the club is justly proud of the quality of the musicians, both British and American (with the occasional European), who have appeared.
Membership of Chelmsford Jazz Club is available with an annual subscription of £8.00 (£14.00 joint) which entitles members to a £4.00 reduction on normal ticket prices, and early notice of concerts. Click here for more information.

I have a photograph (8″ x 6″) of Humphrey Lyttleton and his Jazz Band playing in the Oxford Street Club – this must have been the late 1940′s – very early 1950′s. I met him again in 1986 when he and the band were playing at Dunblane Hydro, Perthshire, Scotland. I showed him the photograph and he kindly signed it “with a trembling hand Hunphrey Lyttleton”.
